Winter in Maine is different this year and even the birds seem to be confused. Oil bills are going down which leaves more disposable income for live music. Since we last spoke I’ve gone in the studio and put together a demo of some new songs that I’m excited about. I’m always writing and it brings a healthy perspective to my life. I’ve performed at the Acoustic Coffeehouse in Portland a few times. It’s a wonderful venue for original music and had the good fortune of being joined by my musical brothers Steve Woodard on bass and Dave Wakefield on saxophone. I performed at a couple of private parties over the holidays with my long time musical partner Don Roak. That was loads of fun, too. We continue to perform on the Friday night Happy Hour at The Wharf in Hallowell, ME. We put together a roster of performers at the gig over the last year and we’ve listed over 60. What a blast! A special thanks to Archie for starting this venue four years ago, just by sitting on a stool and singing songs. Lastly, I did my first TV interview and performance on a local station in Lewiston. We’ll stream some of it on the web-site soon. Stay cool, happy, healthy and forever young…….

fall speed ahead!

Hi Folks,

Lots of fun things happening since I last dropped you a line. I performed down in Portland at the Acoustic Coffehouse and they asked me to come back for another performance in October. It was fun hitting the "big city." Check my calendar over the next few weeks. I played a Governor Baldacci event at the Augusta Civic Center for gathering of 500-600 people and
performed lots of original music. The Friday Night Happy Hour at The Wharf continues to be a blast with many different performers joining us each week. A special thanks to WABK, WMPR and WCLZ for playing my songs on the radio. I'm writing new songs and plan to cut some demos in the studio soon, and expect to release a new record in early 2007.

Hope you all have a happy fall harvest season. I'd love to see you on the road somewhere....stay happy, healthy and forever young.......

Best regards,

Tom G

A Fine Maine August

Ah, August in Maine! Where else would you want to be? I'm in the middle of a new songwriting class through Berklee College and learing all about melody. What a blast! My song "The Banjoman" made it on the radio this week again and I've got to say it was a bit strange hearing my voice through the transistors. My friend Don, the banjoman, came off the Applachian Trail on
Friday and joined us for The Happy Hour gig. Also, the youngster Tyler joined us on a few songs too. An up and coming star...What a fun night! On Saturday, I performed at the Mile of Art show in UMA. It's an art festival that weaves itself through some wooded paths on the University grounds. (Thanks to Holland Hughes for the new photos.) I got to perform all my original music for 3 hours and met so many nice people during the day. Sold some CD's. On Sunday, I played a wedding celebration with a bunch of music friends. Life is good. This week we're at the campground and a private party on the weekend, and, of course, the Friday night Happy Hour.

I don't want to go home.....cause it's Friday night...talk with you soon...

July Happenings

Hi folks, hope everyone is enjoying these wonderful Maine summer days. Don't tell too many people though. I've had a fantastic couple of weeks of music since I last spoke with you. Marsha and Tino joined us the last two Fridays at The Wharf for Happy Hour. What a blast!!!!Those guys are so much fun. Steve Doyan and Ricky Dosedlo chipped in a bunch of songs too. Old Hallowell Days was a splendid as usual with a small town parade, interesting musical acts throughout the day and fireworks at night. I was on a dumptruck with family and friends overlooking the Kennebec River and seeing the skyline
lite up. Thanks Peter for the party.

Excerpts from The Banjoman song made it on the radio this week. Local DJ Don Brown played it for my long time musical partner who is walking from Georgia to Maine on the Applachian Trail. He holds a weekly interview with The Banjoman every Wednesday at 8am. I'm going to try and sneak in on it this week.

I played Beaverbrook Campground and was joined on stage by an up and coming star. The photo is of me and my friend, Tyler, taking a break from jammin' for the campers in the Hut.

A great line up of music events in August. Check my calendar page on the web-site and hope to see you guys out on the road. The Banjoman
arrived home from the Applachian Trail. He played his
tail off on the banjo. It felt like putting my foot
into an old shoe. Real comfortable. Saturday night we
played a good old fashion barn dance in Readfield to
celebrate some friends 25 anniversary party. About 250
people partied, danced and sang from 4pm until midnight.
There were about 15 musician friends on the gig.
Throughout the night I couldn't help but think what a
better and happier world we'd live in if every Saturday
night was spent in such a neighborly way. We even had
some teenage newcomers on the scene making their
performing debut. Anna and Nicole sounded great! I have been trying the songs on new audiences and the response has been both encouraging and exciting. Like new babies, my creations are learning to walk.
